How Comparr works

Full transparency on our AI comparison technology

1

You enter your search

Type any product — "wireless sport earbuds", "French door refrigerator", "refurbished iPhone". Our engine understands natural language and automatically detects the category and relevant criteria.

2

We collect prices in real time

In a few seconds, Comparr queries several sources at once: Google Shopping, Amazon, Walmart, Best Buy, Target and other retailers. Prices are fetched live — not from a stale database.

3

AI analyzes and ranks products

Our AI engine uses leading models (Google Gemini, OpenAI GPT, Anthropic Claude…) selected for each task. It reviews every offer collected and assigns a score out of 100 across three axes:

  • Best on a Budget — the best feature-to-price ratio for tight budgets
  • Best Value — the optimal balance of quality and cost
  • Top Pick — the best product overall, budget secondary
4

You compare and decide

Each result shows a spec comparison table, the price at every retailer, and a personalized AI buying guide. Click "View offer" and you are sent straight to the retailer.

Affiliate transparency

Some retailer links are affiliate links. If you buy through Comparr, we earn a small commission from the retailer — at no extra cost to you. That commission funds the service. It never influences our AI rankings: every product is compared using the same objective criteria, whether affiliated or not.

Public API for AI agents

Comparr exposes a public JSON API (no key required) for assistants: ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, Perplexity… Catalog of comparisons, rankings, live prices, head-to-head matchups and search creation (daily quota).

Frequently asked questions

Are prices always up to date?

Prices are fetched in real time on every new search. Results are then cached for 24 hours to speed up the page if you return to the same comparison.

How many retailers are covered?

Comparr covers every retailer listed on Google Shopping — hundreds of sites. The most common include Amazon, Walmart, Best Buy, Target, Costco, Home Depot and Newegg.

Is the service free?

Yes, completely free for users. Comparr is funded by affiliate commissions on purchases made through our links.

Are retailer links paid?

Some links are affiliate links (Amazon Associates). That does not change the price you pay and does not influence our AI ranking — every product is analyzed using the same objective criteria.

Is there an API for AI assistants?

Yes. Comparr exposes a public JSON API (no key required) for ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, Perplexity and other agents. Documentation: https://www.comparr.co/api/docs — OpenAPI: https://www.comparr.co/api/v1/openapi.yaml — agent guide: https://www.comparr.co/llms.txt
